It was to be a nice, relaxing Christmas at my parents' house in the Valley. Instead, I awoke at 3:00 am Christmas morning with a dreadful asthma attack. I couldn't breathe at all, so I was forced to drive myself to the hospital in my pajamas, whereupon I got a series of breathing treatments from a big male nurse in a Santa hat, with Tony Danza singing on the TV in the background. I got a prescription for steroids to open up my lungs, which I have to take for 5 days. After three hours in the hospital, I came home at 6:00 am and went straight to bed. When I awoke again, my parents were sitting around the dining table drinking coffee and reading the paper. For a moment I was smug and satisfied that no one was the wiser. That is, until my astute mom eyed the hospital bracelet. I tried to pass it off as a club wristband, but to no avail. Of course, they were angry that I didn't wake them, but secretly, I think they were glad they got to sleep in and escape the drama.

Yes, my New Year's resolution is to stop smoking. Although, according to the doctor, that wasn't what brought on the attacks. Instead, it was probably due to all the "male trees" and winds we've been having here. Phooey.

Other than that, the rest of the season was nice. I had Christmas tea at the Biltmore with my boss and a friend of ours, all very girly-girly. Speaking of girly-girly, I'm meeting bijoux and two other ladies for dinner in a couple of hours at a place called O Bar. Should be fun. of course, it's always fun seeing bijoux smile

I hope you all had a happy Hanukkah/Christmas/Kwanza, and that you'll all continue to have a splendid New Year. kiss

Like the Matrix, no one can be told about my anti-smoking talks -- you have to hear them for yourself. wink

I love tea at the Biltmore. I like drinks at the bar there too. And the rooftop bar at the Standard when it's warmer smile
