Fine pictorial, eh?

Well, another scare with dad, back to the hospital we went. Another 36 hours awake or so, and a lot of fucking milleage on my soul. But, well, we figure we got done what needed to be done, whether he wanted it done or not. Doctors make the worst goddamn patients. So, anyway, he'll be home for good in a few more days and likely, this will be the last that this particular trouble will rear its head, gods willing. Anyway, to anyone who posted a kindness for me in the last few days or gave a thought to my father, thanks so much. I really do appreciate it. It's been a fine feeling to know a lot of folks are in our korner.

Anyway, I'm going to have a drink, watch a replay of the game on Al Yankazeera and try and calm down enough to get some much needed rest. Hope all of you had a wonderful Independence Day.

Oh, Happy 74th Birthday, George Steinbrenner, cocksucker!

Edited to add that I am keeping up the photo essay of the sweepage for a bit. I also am going to throw up a little dity I wrote on the difference between Mets and Yankme fans on the Mets MLB message board over the weekend:

OK, I admit to sauntering over to the Spanks board during subway series week. It amuses me at how the team that is supposedly so far above us seems obsessed with repeatedly telling us how far above us they are. If this were truly the dignified team of Dimaggio and Gehrig, they'd no more acknowledge us than stoop to help a bug accross the street. But truth be told, there is a MAMMOTH gap between the historical image projected by the organization and the incredibly boorish, fair-weather actions of their present-day fans.

Now, one difference I did notice. This board posts box-scores every day of every minor league game from Norfolk down to GCL teams. It's mostly Rapdog starting the threads, but tons of people contribute and lately people are throwing up Wright's lines before the games go final. Practically everybody on this board knows and has an opinion of the value of Kazmir, Peterson, Keppel, Brazell, Wright, Petit (awesome numbers) Huber, Jacobs, Diaz and Milledge (phenom). And did we have a more active thread than the draft thread which started in, I dunno, March?

Point is, this isn't about how Wilpon is running the team, this is about us, the fans. We root for our entire organization. We know the system up and down, and only the blind amongst us fail to realize that we are building something that has the potential to really shock the world. I am really happy to be a a part of this type of group. I'd rather not just know the name of one prospect and only know that as a key to what rent-a-player he's going for.

This team is all about the Reyes-Matsui handshake. I see that kind of joy in very few other places in the bigs right now. Maybe Texas and Tampa. Teams that are playing for the love of the game. That's how I want to win. Let the Yankees do it their way. They only have relief from expectation when they win, not joy. I'll always be a Met fan and laugh at the bloated, teetering caravan of fools in the Bronx.

Let's go Mets!!!!!!
