Strange how people who suffer together have stronger connections than people who are most content.
I don't have any regrets, they can talk about me plenty when I'm gone.

Ain't that picture swell? It's a picture of Zanzibar. I want to go to Zanzibar. I've always wanted to go to Zanzibar. Is there any place that has more of a mystique than Zanzibar? maybe Casablanca, maybe. I mean, could you go to Zanzibar and not fall in love with a nightclub singer who is involved with a diamond smuggling operation? I imagine not. I really want to go to Zanzibar.

I am done with the trial. We are adjourned until August 17.

That's the good news.

The TERRIBLE news -- 100 page post-trial brief due Augst 27 or so, reply brief due 10 days later, just around the time I was hoping to plan my vacation. I sure wish I had done my GREs last year so I could be planning an exit strategy for grad school this fall.

Seriously, I'm almost ready to hold palaver with some of the recruiters who call -- and call - and call. Not to say I am so 'recruitable' -- it's the nature of recruiters to call all the time. I am just totally unconnected to those who I toil for and with. I really do not feel part of their 'corporate culture' and I hate that fucking phrase. If I am going to stay in law, I need to get to a smaller firm or to a government agency. This is my second big firm, and it wasn't just the first firm, it's the nature of the entire beast. It's just not worth the hours or the tude.

Seriously

If you want me, I'll be in Zanzibar.
