Oh, the streets of Rome are filled with rubble,
Ancient footprints are everywhere.
You can almost think that you're seein' double
On a cold, dark night on the Spanish Stairs.
Got to hurry on back to my hotel room,
Where I've got me a date with Botticelli's niece.
She promised that she'd be right there with me
When I paint my masterpiece.

Oh, the hours I've spent inside the Coliseum,
Dodging lions and wastin' time.
Oh, those mighty kings of the jungle, I could hardly stand to see 'em,
Yes, it sure has been a long, hard climb.
Train wheels runnin' through the back of my memory,
When I ran on the hilltop following a pack of wild geese.
Someday, everything is gonna be smooth like a rhapsody
When I paint my masterpiece.

What do

have in common?

If you said "MOVING ON UP!" you are correct sir!

After making like Santiago and hooking them some Marlin (note how literary Trash is ce soir) the young Metropolitans find themselves a scant 2 1/2 games from the penthouse of the NL East. In other amusing news, the owner of the Marlins told me that Burnett's rehab was going poorly and that the Mets would shell him tonight. So acting on the sports equivalent of a 10(b)(5) violation (insider trading) I made a grand on the advice of the enemy. Has an early June win been any sweeter?

The arbitration is heading into the home stretch. Key witness up today and tomorrow. One of the witnesses I did the Q&A for. Tense times. Few F-Bombs dropped by the client. Anyway, it's interesting. I'm keeping very still and living very present tense. I think it's a total product of exhaustion. Usually with any time on my hands I think far too much about the past and the future. Right now I think about baseball, making sure I've changed suits from day to day and getting my dogs walked. Seriously, anything else that isn't related to work is nearly beyond me. I guess there will be time enough to sort out the odd twists of my personal life when I take a few days off after the trial & post/trial briefs are done.

Hell, maybe I should just keep running.

Seems like I get into the trouble when I stand still and take a moment to understanding how it is I got where I am.

Whatever.

This Remains Trash

now we're up in the big leagues
taking our turn at bat ...

wow, illegal gambling based on use of confidentially gathered information! i'm impressed!

the NL is bunched up, with no team seeming dominant, and three pretty bad teams making all the others look somewhat decent. but it's a good run against the world series champs, and as good as stretch as we've had the past few years.

Have you seen the picture of Sadie in a Mets uniform? it's on Sadie's page, under pics, in the folder called "Sadie's Pics." i tried to post the link, but failed. it's worth the look-see.
