I turn and walk away
then I come round again
It looks as though tomorrow
I'll do very much the same

I must turn down your offer
but I'd like to ask a break
You know I'm ready to give everything
for anything I take

Someone called my name
You know, I turned around to see
It was midnight in the Mission
and the bells were not for me

Come again
Walking along in the Mission in the rain
Come again
Walking along in the Mission in the rain

Ten years ago I walked this street
my dreams were ridin tall
Tonight I would be thankful
Lord, for any dream at all

Some folks would be happy
just to have one dream come true
but everything you gather
is just more that you can lose

Come again
Walking along in the Mission in the rain
Come again
Walking along in the Mission in the rain

All the things I planned to do
I only did half way
Tomorrow will be Sunday
born of rainy Saturday

There's some satisfaction
in the San Francisco rain
No matter what comes down
the Mission always looks the same

Come again
Walking along in the Mission in the rain
Come again
Walking along in the Mission in the rain

I've always felt that song. I've never felt it more than now. It speaks to me of cool, wet, soothing tones and slow tempos. I'm so ready for all those things. They'll be coming soon enough. First for a little while, later for a long while. If I were a thoroughbred I'd be rearing up in the gate right now.

SIDE NOTE -- Thank you Smarty Jones/Rock Hard Ten exacta -- END SIDE NOTE

But I'm not a throughbred. What I am is a man who plays a lawyer seven days a week right now, and happens to be going to trial in about seven hours -- well actually arbitration which is a lot more fun. So it's on tomorrow, which is nice. Kind of marks the half-way point of this insanity. Still about a month away from a real day off, and still never going to get home much before two AM. But at least we are going to be litigating. No more trying. Either it is or it isn't. So, anyway, then it will be July, and I think a trip to Jamaica and then the farm.

And then find a PhD program and start living right. I'll be walking a bit of a different road in a while, and I think that's real swell. Considering I just got home on a Sunday night to an empty studio apartment, and also recognizing that I'm beyond exhausted and feel at base level seriously alone, I feel pretty good.

We have reached a point of departure.

This is Trash

By the way . . . How fucking clutch is Piazza?

i've never heard "staggerlee" called "beautiful" before -- it's a powerful, clever song, and Jerry can go off on it like all his best songs, but it's a bit too violent for me to see it as "beautiful."

delia would've made a good SG, though.
