I went down to the river to watch the fish swim by;
But I got to the river so lonesome I wanted to die..., Oh Lord!
And then I jumped in the river, but the doggone river was dry.
She's long gone, and now I'm lonesome blue.
I had me a woman who couldn't be true.
She made me for my money and she made me blue.
A man needs a woman that he can lean on,
But my leanin' post is done left and gone.
She's long gone, and now I'm lonesome blue.
I'm gonna find me a river, one that's cold as ice.
And when I find me that river, Lord I'm gonna pay the price, Oh Lord!
I'm goin' down in it three times, but Lord I'm only comin up twice.
She's long gone, and now I'm lonesome blue.
She told me on Sunday she was checkin' me out;
Long about Monday she was nowhere about.
And here it is Tuesday, ain't had no news.
I got them gone but not forgotten blues.
She's long gone, and now I'm lonesome blue.
Who can't dig on Hank?
Man o Man, my office mate done gone and given me a nasty cold. Nothing quite as good as waiting out a cold New York winter for it to turn 75 degrees only to walk around shivering! Only 5 more weeks until I can legally break out the seersucker though, and white bucks though, so better to get chills out of the way now when I can afford to bundle up. Don't want to lose too many of those good poplin days of summer. Matlock, say what you will about his legal skills, did set the bar high as far as courtroom style goes. Costner looked pretty suave while butchering his accent in JFK too. While I was close to moving to NOLA two years ago I had such a nice wardrobe makeover planned. I really got most of my dad's southern genes and very little of my mom's New Yorkisms. I grew some New Yorkish tendencies and styles living here for so long, but in my heart of hearts, my sensibilities are southern. That's why I have a moon pie clock on my wall and am lookin for a woman to court.
I'm a courtn'. Who's a' sparkin?
I miss my dad. He's out of town. He's sweet and confused, and man, I feel like I'm the father and he's the son more ofthen than not.
I have a great mom and sister too. Better than anyone else, so no, no trades.
Pizza is here. I hope Rob or Amber gets voted off the island tonight! File that under no chance in hell. Frickin dumbass castaways.
Seems to me, some times, it takes a lot more to be a good man than it does to be a good person. I think that's definitely the case. Been listening to Vern Gosdin on a tip from Barker. Barker knows what he is talking about. Vern knows. Simply put, Vern knows.
"This ain't my first rodeo."
Damn right, Vern.
Damn right.
