Any advice?

I'm working through a few things at the moment, and there is one aspect of my life that emotionally I am focused on. I am struggling with some anxiety issues and I have been looking into Meditation practices, Yoga and also some Mantras to see if there can be benefit to them for this. I am generally quite a spiritual person (universal, not specific religious belief) and have found that Meditation has been good for me when previously depressed.

I have been having health issues and I know that this has been contributing to anxiety about social situations, work, etc. I would like to take a more 'organic' approach to everything and my GP is supportive of this. I have an upcoming appointment to get additional emotional supports with counselling and strategies before heading down a medication path (if needed). I have not been struggling with anxiety for a long time, but it seems to have come from no where and is beginning to have an impact on my lifestyle (and it is time to move on from it).

I was wondering if any of you had any experience with these practices, or if there is any material you could refer to me to read, etc. that could be of benefit? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I must give thanks to @trills for her recent blog about being here now, it has got me reading and watching videos from Ram Dass (which are amazing).

Xxx

Thank you @richardmunn for your words.  I will definitely be having a look into Peter Levine, as I know that some of these anxiety issues seem to arise from a particular traumatic moment.  I have previously practised meditation (and briefly yoga), but am finding it difficult to re engage at the moment. I will be sure to keep posting updates on how I am going!  Thank you again.  :)
