Things have been kind of strange in my universe, but at least i'm not feeling totally alone. On the news tonight former Grand Forks mayor Pat Owens discussed the feelings she felt while looking at New Orleans. At least i'm not alone thinking about GF '97 when looking at the flood and fire. I still don't think i'm completely over that, just like everyone who lived there that year isn't ever going to be over that. There's just a certain feeling of hopelessness that's unmatched by few things when you abandon your home for an unknown amount of time due to rising water.

What's worse is that I'm writing a life-changing narrative at the moment and will probably do something about the flood. Lots of memories and lots of unsettled feelings getting stirred up.

Discussed gas prices and pulling out of Iraq with a couple of life-long republicans. Somehow I was defending Bush... how bizare is that? Ended up bartering a 6 pack of bud light for the second biggest dog Ive ever seen, and the first largest Ive ever fed a beef-jerky package to. Otis the huge St. Bernard

Overall, things are going fine. Though i've discovered that i'm drinking less now that i work at the liquor store, though it's not really the fact that i work there that is stopping my drinking. It's something much more concrete and something i'm much more in control of.

I work the first day of the football season. I'm not happy about that at all. That's a national holiday of my people!
