in unrelated news, i got my old job back so i have rejoined the employed
. the thing that really struck me was how everyone keeps telling me how glad they are to see me. apparently nancy (the lady who always relieved me last time and hired me the first time) and the current boss dont like each other. so when i called to try and get my job back, the current boss was apprehensive, assuming i would be nancys toadie and thus against her. word got around that i was looking to come back and it seems EVERYONE told her that she needed to bring me back. not just because im a good worker but they all genuinely like me.
this is peculiar to me. not just because im not used to being liked by this many people in one location but the fact that the jason that goes to work isnt me and it certainly isnt the jason any of you know. its the nicest version of me. (incidentally, the nicest version of me still isnt above recommending suicide to cops) it kind of makes me wonder if this fake version of me is in fact better than the real me.

Well, more accurately perhaps, I burned him and he's taken that as proof of his negative world view and used it to give him free reign to not give a shit about people when he was already damaged, manipulative, and a pathological liar. So, maybe you're right.
