okay, i've got good news, but first i'll need to explain a bit.
background: i've been on the programming committee for the 2004 Kansas International Film Festival since last august. in short, this means i've been checking out flicks for the festival and helping decide what's going to play this year.
well, a few months back i caught an interview, right here on suicidegirls, about bellmore: the unscene with director Frank Fusco (for those of you that missed it, it is right here) anyway, after reading the interview I contacted Frank and they sent a screener to me for possible entry into this year's festival.
well, it's now official! bellmore: the unscene has been selected into the competition division. so, what does that mean? it means that anyone that's going to be in the kansas city area around september 10-16 needs to come check it out. the specific date & time is still to be announced, but everyone who shows up has a chance to vote for it to win the award, so please plan on being there.
come out, see a good flick, and meet the filmmakers!!! any questions, check the festival website or drop me a comment.

dr_zoidberg:
How do you get on the programming committee?
tadmanly:
i think it's one of those deals that you luck into by knowing the right people, at least that's how it worked for me. some festivals are easier to break into than others. the KIFF isn't the easiest to get involved with in this degree because it's a tight group that's known each other for awhile. try volunteering if you're interested, that may be a good start.
