"The Newtonian God--the God who made a clock-like universe, wound it, and withdrew--died a long time ago. This is what Nietzsche meant and this is the God who is being observed.

Anyone who is looking around for a simulated icon of the deity in Newtonian guise might well be disappointed. The phrase 'God is dead' applies aptly, correctly, validly to the Newtonian universe which is...

the olympics are beginning to bore me. which is fine, i guess, since i should have a pretty busy week coming up to keep me somewhat stimulated.

today kicked it off - up at 6:15 to help shoot a commercial, directly from the shoot to work, and directly from work to a meeting to be home by 8pm. some people do this every day, hopefully...

Do it. You will feel horrible for a few days, but once your leg muscles get stronger, you will enjoy the hell out of it, because swimming is low impact, and you don't destroy your muscles working out while swimming.

okay, i've got good news, but first i'll need to explain a bit.

background: i've been on the programming committee for the 2004 Kansas International Film Festival since last august. in short, this means i've been checking out flicks for the festival and helping decide what's going to play this year.

How do you get on the programming committee?
tadmanly:
i think it's one of those deals that you luck into by knowing the right people, at least that's how it worked for me. some festivals are easier to break into than others. the KIFF isn't the easiest to get involved with in this degree because it's a tight group that's known each other for awhile. try volunteering if you're interested, that may be a good start. shocked

well, things have slowed down quite a bit in the last couple of days. i had an amazing amount of energy while i was in mexico but i think i left it at the border.

i've been watching the olympic coverage quite a bit. i rarely watch tv and over the last 2 days the advertisements have been driving me mad. on a side note,...

i'm back from mexico! to fill you in on the details, i went to anapra, which is adjacent to juarez, mexico. for anyone who isn't familiar with the location, it's a shantytown in the desert, right on the u.s. border at el paso.

the purpose of the trip was to shoot a documentary about a group that builds houses for the homeless and impoverished people...

that's awesome. i'd like to see the finished product, however it turns out.
lauraelizabeth81:
Flan is a custard style dessert. It is like a cross between yogurt and jello. The consistency is too weird for me, but a lot of people love it and it is definitely something to try. The drizzle light caramel sauce over the top of it.
