Another friend and I were on our way to pick up said terrorized victim in Lawrence. (Far away-ish) and I was just about to ask how messed up the car was when something that looked orange and electric jumped out and smacked our car. I couldn't tell what it was. I saw it clearly and had time to look, but instantly couldn't recall.
I realized, through my extensive reading, that it must have been a werewolf, and the reason why I couldn't see it was something referred to in the werewolf tribes (they have tribes, not packs) as "the veil."
It's a natural defense. Our minds are so fragile that they cannot comprehend the existence of vampires, ghost, werewolves and whatnot, so we reinterpret what we see to look like large dogs, or crazy people, or just something strange that we can't quite remember.
Anyway, I'm certain that it was a werewolf and that's why it looks like there's a dead dog on the highway if you're taking K-10 on your way to Lawrence.
