Here are a few tree stump markers from Green Lawn Cemetery. Usually the tree stumps are with the Woodmen of the World. Woodmen of the World started out as a fraternal insurance company. While they do provide insurance now, they don't provide the tree stump markers.

The Porter family angel in Allegheny Cemetery in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It's an example of a recorder angel, an angel that records a persons name in the book of life. The right hand is positioned to look like it writing a name. It's not the original angel though. The original granite angel was replaced with the current bronze one after 1910.

Some more markers from Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Kentucky. Have always the older hand carved markers. It seems like these type of carvings have been lost on the newer markers.

These markers are in Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Kentucky. All are part of the David T. Adams lot. These are are among my favorites due the carvings.

The Gabriel family indian marker in Green Lawn Cemetery. Pics of how it has been decorated at various points. The monument is in one of the newer sections of Green Lawn Cemetery. The indian was carved in Italy.

Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newark, Ohio. It's obvious someone really loved M&M candies. It's the only instance of candy on a marker I've come across. I've seen bags of candy, alcohol, money, toys and all sorts of other things left at graves.

This marker I originally came upon in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newark, Ohio. Thought it was funny someone would put Gumby and Pokey on a marker. People at work didn't believe Gumby and Pokey would be found on a marker in a cemetery. Of course some people had to bring up Saturday Night Live.
