Born in Maumee, Ohio, Forsyth was Colonel of the 64th OVI. In 1862, he was a inspector general and eventually aide-de-camp to General Joseph Mansfield.

In 1863, Forsyth was adjutant to General Philip Sheridan. In the above picture from the left are Wesley Merrit, General Philip Sheridan, George Crook, James Forsyth and finally George Armstrong Custer.

Charles Walcutt was Colonel of the 46 OVI during the civil war. He was promoted to Brevet Major General. He is related to somebody on his maternal side.

A name on one of the sides of the marker should be a clue on who he was related to.

Walcutt was a cousin on his mothers side to Davy Crockett.
