I got a really good review in my portfolio class today, which was VERY nice. She is loving my style.

I'm currently working on a series of drawings relating to the war.

I follow a rivergrrl friend of mine into her apartment as she comes home from a long day in military style clothing, huge combat boots, shaved head, and turns on the TV to zone out, only to find graphic images of bombs on every station. she goes through all of these emotions while exhausted, and goes to the bathroom to wash her face and go to bed, she later tosses and turns in bed and cannot sleep.

the pieces use muted palettes and only certain colors in each piece.

For instance, the first piece is done with browns, yellows, greens, and is of a florescently lit staircase.

The 5th one is of her breaking down into sobs, holding her head, it is done in reds, pinks and purples.

the colors change quite a bit, to fit each mood. the composition changes from following the girl about 15 paces behind to getting closer and closer, the last piece is a close-up of her distraught, disturbed face.

I'm so excited about these. They're coming out really well so far. ::knock on wood::
