I ended up finding a good place in the Mt. Hope section of Providence (between the east side and Pawtucket) but I had to look at a ton of crap and hear a lot of bullshit before I got it. Good luck with your move; if you haven't found a place I'd suggest craigslist because of the pictures or possibly try calling property management companies.
Edited to ask: how were the caverns? and how goes the apartment hunting?
