hi fellow geez
yep, FUNGUS 53 is a pretty good punk station on XM. They play new and old, and they have different shows for ska, industrial, psychobilly, and surf. about once a month they have a live show, usually with an up and coming band, last month it was Go Betty Go, next month The Unseen.
i've probably got that station on 18 hrs a day. i highly recommend it, hell that station alone would be worth the $10 a month for XM
hey btw, days and weeks zipping by, means you're old
age - if i ignore it, will it go away?

Yeah, Armadillo WHQ was closed before my time, the building was torn down years ago but the land is now in use by Threadgill's restaraunt (their other location was one of the places Janis Joplin got started) and they try to honor the memory by having some old posters from AWHQ and a ton of armadillo art everywhere. I used to practically live at Liberty Lunch when I was in High School (if you remember that place), but several years ago the city decided they wanted to use that property for other stuff (the city had always owned the land it sat on) and so they tore it down. There were always talks about the city giving the owners of the Lunch a good lease on some other property, but nothing ever came of it. Another Austin landmark gone forever.
As for Live At Raul's, I don't know if it ever got an official CD re-release, but it did come out on vinyl in small quantities a few years back and The Big Boys' side of it was reissued on one of their discography CDs, I can't remember if it was the Fat Elvis or the Skinny Elvis, but one of those two. I think the Dicks' side might be available on some Dicks CD somewhere, but I'm not as sure about that. The Are We Too Late For The Trend compilation...I really wanna say that I did see it out on CD, but don't quote me on that one. I think the Nervebreakers are from Austin too, I just never saw them or heard them even though I heard of them and saw their records around a lot, just didn't end up in the same circle, I guess. The Austin scene is probably a LOT bigger now than what you may remember.
Glad you liked the Cruisers record you heard, they put out two full lengths and a whole bunch of 7 inches, I loved 'em, but I don't think they really found their own complete sound until the last full length which came out right before they broke up. If you haven't heard it, I strongly recommend you track that one down, it's called The Patron Saints Of Wheless Lane. Like I said, I loved those guys before that, but they always had a little too much of The Clash in their sound to really come off as original, but that last album is probably one of the best albums to come out of Austin in a very long time. All but one of the guys from The Dead End Cruisers had started a new band sometime last year and I got to see them once before I moved. They were really good, a little more laid back than the Cruisers, but still along the same lines. The were called The Score, I hope they're still together. It was everybody but Dave, who played bass and was the singer who didn't have the british accent. He's in another band too, but I can't remember their name and when I saw them I really wasn't impressed at all, it was really glammy stuff and not in the way I would have expected. It was more 80s metal than New York Dolls and I really woulda pegged him for the Dolls or Thunders sound instead.

I don't want to sound evil, but I'm getting tired of hearing about the tsunami.
Even Phucket and phi phi don't get a giggle from me anymore.
Now all of a sudden everyday I'm getting calls for my dj service!!!
I rased my hourly rate to $85 from $75 and I was worried I would see a slump in bookings but just the opposite!

it has been a strange and crazy off-season for fans of New York's national league club.
sluttygoodboy:
Yeah good going on the business, that sounds fantastic.
Therapy is good. Today it was great. I hope the new insight I gained will help me, really help me.
Thank you for your support.
And, yeah...it's really lonely. I hate it. It wasn't, or at least didn't seem this way when I was a kid.
