It's not unfriendly to want others to drive well That's actually part of what I called "aggressive" driving: expecting everyone to do the Right Thing at the Right Time.

Unfriendly driving involves intentionally screwing others over for a small advantage. Example: refusing to allow a car into your lane simply because you can. That generally gains you very little and costs other drivers because the other car has to slow way down to get over.

In Boston, if a car sees you check your side-view mirror, a driver in the lane you want will often figure out that you are thinking about changing lanes and move to cut you off. If you use your turn signal, the driver is almost sure to do so. That kind of shit forces drivers to act unpredictably, in order to prevent the unfriendlies from catching on and preventing.
