Tonight I watched The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. Those of you who have never heard of it are missing out. Never mind I have the book; how can I say no to a movie featuring Walter Matthau, Jerry Stiller, Robert Shaw, Martin Balsam, Hector Elizondo, Earl Hindman, and 1974 New York City in all its bankrupt glory?

Now it is bedtime.

Today, in lieu of yet another Pat Oliphant editorial cartoon, I give you a REAL update: automotive crash tests from across the Atlantic.

Jiangling Landwind (Isuzu Rodeo/Honda Passport knockoff)

Chery Amulet

Brilliance BS6

For comparison, Toyota Auris

In fairness, the cars I prefer (Great American Sedans & Trucks older than me) aren't all that safe either. Hell, if I was ever broadsided in the C20,...

By the way, I was really hoping to get Family Ties, Growing Pains, Three's Company and (maybe) WKRP references in there too.
spacegirl:
So why are you so busy lately?

You are way more motivated than I.

well, a rabbit would imply magic (rabbit out of the hat). a ferret is kind of a weasel (right?), and both animals are also verbs with less-than-flattering connotations. I guess you could also go with a dust bunny, expounding on the emptiness of the head

te-he! how goes it Shy? Talking, people at work, were like Yoda today. Good at it not am I. Funny it was though.
I don't know why you would care the least bit about that I just didn't want to leave it at "te-he".

It's a goddamn shame this man didn't make it to forty:

I know I posted this one a while ago, but I do not care:

I might have even posted this too, but again I do not care:

That's all the culture for today.

I am indulging in slightly different culture, making mike watch eraserhead he has asked more than once what it is about.

Tonight I am pulling double-duty: baking cookies & making spaghetti sauce. I managed to unpack my vinyl today, so I have some tunes to keep me company. Right now I'm having a little Cole Porter.

In other news, I refrained from buying replacement three-way bookshelf speakers for my stereo ($100). Go me! A couple hours later, I see two ceiling fans, an old desk, and...

This morning, I had a rather nice dream. I dreamt I was sleeping soundly, foxy female by my side. Such an idyllic scene it was. A dream I really had no intention of leaving. Forget work, I want to dream. biggrin

Anyway, she rolls over to whisper sweet nothings in my ear so I may wake up & earn my keep. After all, I must earn...

Today shall be spent rebuilding the hubs/replacing the wheel joints on the Blazer. On the upside, I only have 31 years of rust & neglect to deal with. surreal At least the spindles are coming off with minor persuasion from a padded BFH.

Hiccups so far:
--spindle bearing removal
--not enough solvent to clean bearings (oops)

Today is Bastille Day.

In other, less revolutionary news, my attic insulation & reflective barrier project is now roughly 50% complete. While it was cool up there today, I was still sloshing around in my coveralls wrestling with fiberglass. Blech. tongue

(I would also like to mention cellulose insulation is the debbil. mad )

At about 5:30, I got sick of sweating up a storm, so I...
