Lousy State of Michigan Treasury Department...
I sent in my tax payment March 31st. Check cleared April 6th. Today, July 20th, I receive a Final Bill for Taxes Due. Fine, I'll just pop on over to my online bank & print off a copy of the check, right?
Wrong.
CHECK IMAGE NO LONGER AVAILABLE
Now I have to wait the ten days for the paper check to arrive on my doorstep. I may even be billed $3 for the convenience. I remember a time not too long ago when I received my cancelled checks FOR FREE.
To think people wonder why I'm a fair-weather Luddite...
Once I have the check in hand, I must send it, a copy of my bill, and a letter detailing why I don't owe what they say I owe to Lansing, wait 14 days for them to pull their heads out of their asses, and I'm all set.
(I would think just a Post-It note saying "LOOK DUMMY" would be sufficient, but they want a full-blown letter.)
That's 24 days right there. Add the two days it takes for the mail to trek 60 miles & that's 26 days. I have 35 days to pay this bill. Of course the section of the State of Michigan Treasury Department website that details my tax payments doesn't work with Safari. It displays the page, but I can't click on anything. Firefox...Firefox HATES that page. I get a string of HTML & Java where a frame should be.
Blah.
