This being Tuesday, it's yet another Movie Night here in my humble Wixom abode. Tonight I am watching Pentrex's 1989 production, Denver & Rio Grande Western. I grew up along the D&RGW's Moffat Road, so this DVD makes me smile. smile

Allow me to give you some running commentary (westbound):

Ooo...the Moffat Tunnel! There's Winter Park Ski Area! And the Fraser Mercantile Building! (One of the oldest buildings in Grand County, Colorado.) And slightly down the line...YES! FVES! biggrin (Fraser Valley Elementary School, my alma mater.) Wait, Gore Canyon? They skipped Tabernash, Granby, Hot Sulphur Springs, and Kremmling. Phooey. frown

Yep, I'm a diehard fan of the orange & black (first swallowed by the Southern Pacific then by the Union Pacific). Without the D&RGW, Winter (Hideaway) Park, Fraser, and Tabernash would still be tiny backwaters in rural Colorado. There would be no Ski Train! eeek

Back to the running commentary (eastbound):

YES! Byers Canyon! Hmm...two Burlington Northern Dash 8s as well as two D&RGW SD40T-2s. Interesting motive power arrangement. Tabernash! And soon...Fraser! The Nation's Icebox! Zerex St.! (The narrator is mispronouncing the name of my town. It's Fray-zur, not Frayz-er.) And there's the Moffat Tunnel. At East Portal, the tiny tunnels & twisty turns on the descent to Denver begin.

As a diehard railfan, if I can't hear those air horns in the middle of the night, I get lonely.

(Steam whistles are a similar story. They make me beam. biggrin)

{added at update}

Okay, that's done. Time for something completely different--like a story about a man and his cat. Luckily, I have Harry and Tonto in my collection.

Yes, tomorrow. I didn't realize you were really making the trip over. That's cool. I think Tiffany's coming along, but I am not entirely sure. Do you remember how to get there? Do you want to just meet at the theater again? Or at Tiffany's? Or Lunch or something? Call us tonight or tomorrow morning and we'll figure it out from there. If we don't hear from you, we'll assume you're meeting us at the theater.
