For Lent my boyfriend and I are going to give up sex for 40 days.
I'm not really excited about this prospect, as we are a couple that has sex about 12 times a week, and part of me (the insecure part) is worried that not having sex with me will cause him to become bored with me. I know this is irrational, since we have many common interests, and we have a ton of fun together.....this is going to be tough though.
Part of me is super willing to take on the challenge. When we make it though these 40 days and 40 nights we will be a super strong couple. We already communicate well, and we will still be seeing each other nearly every day, so it's just that facet of physicality we'll be giving up.
What is sweet is that he told me that if I'm unwilling he will choose something else to give up for lent. It bothered me that I was so alarmed at giving up sex for so long. Back in the day people did this all the time to learn more about themselves, to get to know God, to prove a point, whatever.
Now, I'm not religious in the way he is, in fact, this is his idea (he's Greek Orthodox), but since I respect his religion, and understand that in his faith giving up the thing that is most important to you besides God (which is sex with me), shows his faith.
Once day 41 happens, all bets are off.
It's funny, If I didn't want to marry this man I'd probably cause a huge stink over this. In fact if we did get engaged, I would probably have to convert to his faith, which I am seriously considering. I've been doing a lot of research and asking a ton of questions. I don't think it would be appropriate for me to convert just for the love of a man. Part of his belief system (I like to think of it as ideas) are right on synch with mine, and we meditate together, discuss and try as much as we can to manifest with the Law of Attraction and everything.

In addition to this, we've decided that it will be an excellent time for us to take the salsa classes that we want to take (he suggested it!), we'll meditate at night, and I'm looking into making the gym a serious sex tension reliever. Maybe I'll come out of this thing with those cuts above your jean line that look super sexy. Heh.

Click on the page and then go to the left column, it's some super tricky Flash SWF file that's really odd. Click on the first name of the range, and then when you look at the pic, another range will come up underneath it, in the column. It's annoying, but well worth it. I found it for the research I did for this article.
