really random rant on local news:
god, eastern mass can drive me crazy
whenever the the local news interviews locals
i cringe and/or laugh, it's terrible
it's not just the dropping of the "R"s and such
they just sound really stupid
now, i'm sure they're not but really there's something about the accent
out here that just makes people sound like they didn't pass 7th grade.
it seems local news just picks the biggest idiots to talk to as well
i laughed hysterically today as they showed some young construction worker
(ahem, and for a construction worker with terrible tribal, i'd still hit it)
who ran after a robber at a dunkin donuts, captured him and got the money back
he was laughing the whole time, he must have felt so nervous/embarassed
doesn't the news care that this guy obviously thinks showing him in line
at the dunkin donuts is just silly?
i had a friend who used to work for a local news station
she could never take it seriously
really it's the equivalent to high school news broadcasting, with better cameras
and yet everyone watches it and takes it so seriously
i don't think i could work at a news station, i couldn't honestly hold the camera
while someone is saying stupid shit, without bursting into laughter
btw, jelly belly came out with sport beans
they put electrolytes in jelly beans...
i want protein jelly beans, i want alcohol jelly beans
pass me the whiskey beans...

It's funny because I grew up on the Cape and everyone either had a swamp yankee style of speech or that nasally cape accent and never really heard too much of that Rhode Island wicked pissah talk.
