i think what aurora83 meant by "real corsets" is the kind that women used in previous centuries to squeeze their waists down really tiny. you can still buy these, and corsetry is still done, but it is now just a fetish, not really a fashion. victoria's secret's corsets are real corsets, however they are not made of materials that can withstand the stress of corseting your body. so you cant really squeeze your waist down small with one of those. you have to special order a corset to fit your measurements, and they are made of heavy leather or fabric and have sturdy boning.
