I've had way too many brushes with death in my time. I don't know why, but somehow I seem to always escape miraculously. The most recent one was this Saturday night. Let me first start with a joke I heard today. A little background info to start. It snowed here in Atlanta on March 1st. The joke: Why did it snow here on March 1st? God wanted to turn everything white again after black history month. Racist? Yes. Funny? Hell yes. On the the near death story. I went for a motorcycle ride that night alone. I was going down a back road near my house and a creature of the night ran out in the road. This was right in the middle of a good turn. It was on the other side of the street, so I tried to just go by it. It got spooked and darted back in my lane. I hit it and continued straight into the curb. This was all at about 50 mph. After I hit the curb, I went tumbling. I blacked out after the first impact. When I awoke, I was on my stomach with both my gloves and shoes gone. I was wearing a helmet and riding jacket. That saved me from a lot of injury. I still got pretty fucked up, but it should have been worse. There are pictures to come.
