This is simply an expansion on something I just wrote in someones blog.

I spent years studying many religions, I have a good friend in every one. and honestly, its not that I believe in nothing now, I just don't believe in anything any religion has come to a conclusion about by reading documents thousands of years old...or maybe I simply believe just a little bit of everything and never come to any conclusion because I'm always learning.
I don't think I'm really jaded about anything, I think I'm simply trying to open my eyes and see religion for what it is, and what it hides. It is a means for people to find acceptance in a group, and it is a means for people to feel comfortable about exhistance. We are all curious, and life is such a complex thing, that many people feel that if they need an answer. Why do we exhist? Why do bad things happen to us? And the lazy, or the lonely fall into religion as their first choice because they don't want to go farther than what is given to them there. They don't want to face the fact that maybe we govern our own choices and in the end, there is no one to blame things on but ourselves. I think some people dont want to take the responsability that comes with realizing that there may not be a God out there watching us and blessing us with good things, or a Devil out there folowing us, punishing us and bringing bad things into our lives. Its scary to think that maybe we are the only things that bless ourselves and punish ourselves. Not that I believe entirely that there is "nothing out there", but I simply mean to imply that maybe people should stop blaming things on God or the Devil and take responsibility for the blame themselves.
What religion hides is hate, and ignorance, and profit, and control. Why do you think a congregation is called a pastors "flock", you know? They are all just fucking sheep, and your shepard is the one leading you. If you're lucky, he is a good man. If you are unlucky he will use you for profit, or he will breed hate and predjudice within the "flock" or against others not in the "flock". Like I said before, sound anything like a gang to you?
Now expand that to the country and you get a shepard called george bush leading his flock of "christian soldiers" to their death over ideals such as "freedom" and "democrecy" when he is really trying to gain power and money by getting controll over one of the leading producers of oil for this world. Its so simple, its so obvious. Why were country's clamoring to get controll of china back in the 1300-1400s? To gain controll of the weath of the silks and spices and wepons. Now its the same thing today, yet people somehow believe that its because we want another small, insignifigant country, other than that one export would mean nothing to us, nor is a threat to us, to be a free and democratic country under the careful watch of good old US of A. People are idiots. period.
Why can't we just open our eyes and see what is happening to this country. That our bodies are being used for a controll of profit war. And, ok, so what, thats what countries do, they try to be the biggest and the best with the most controll, then why dont' we just accept it and come out with the truth and say it! Why are we trying to hide it? And why the hell are people falling for the lie? I mean jesus, if you would feel bad fighting for the cause of profit gain...than maybe you should rething being a soldier for a country, because thats what they do! Don't get me wrong, I love our service men. I think they are brave and I have the utmost respect for them, why? Because they were duped into this fight without a clear statement as to the real reasons why they will be dying out there. If at least given the real reason, they could be given the opportunity to make and educated choice about fighting for our country. They chose according to the information given, and now they are dying for it.
Its just sad. Like I said before, it makes me want to run up to people and scream at them to read a book. But that won't do any good. So what do I do, I sit down and write rants about religion and politics on the fucking internet. And is that any better?

I'm pretty much in the same boat with the religion bit. I think there are just too many different options that all lead to the same "place". The chance that just one of those is the right way is a pretty dumb logic to me.

Religion is politics.

As far as people fighting in the armed forces I'm not sure that I agree. I do think that the whole premise of the war in iraq was pretty weak and just fed off the anger that the american people had over 911. I do not think that the majority of the armed forces joined up thinking that there would be no possibility to be involved in a conflict. I have some close friends and even my own father is in Iraq. They all knew what they were getting into. Making the choice to sign up in the armed forces was them saying they were ok with fighting whatever war/conflict that the leadership of the US decided on. Granted there are some rather unintelligent people that will fall for the "you wont go to war and you will get your schooling for free" bit. Which is unfortunate but thats life.

IMO the country will continue to slid down hill. Fewer rights and freedoms, less education, harder economy for the lower to middle class and and ever increasing poverty level. The reason that it wont change is because nobody would put up with it. Somones morals/rights/freedom of speech would be stepped on cry foul. People are just too touchy and too political these days.

with that said I am off to sleep cause I am dead tired.
