While all the good little boys and girls were off gawking at tits and cooters, I went down to DC to go listen to an unapologetic atheist talk about his latest book. I had happened to pick up the book as theology in general interests me, and a friend had asked me to go to this little event and I was inclined to oblige him.

I believe that if you're going to go meet an author, its common courtesy to read what they've written. If you can't be arsed to read it, don't go meet them!

Apparently I'm in the minority, as the audience basically asked things that he already addressed in his work, and he dutifully answered them beyond saying what page of his book they could find their answers in. Its times like these I reflect on what a raging, unregretful asshole I can be, as that would be my response.

In all he made some great quips, and found out that Alcoholics Anonymous and most 12 step programs heavily leverage religious undertones, so I guess this particular event was as enlightening for the author as the audience. I was hoping to get some more rigorous or deep debate, but I guess I'm a sucker for arguing.

It is true.
