I was recently allowing the unknown and unexpected to guide me when I came across a little snippet from Christina Scabbia, lead singer of Lacuna Coil. (If you've not heard of Lacuna Coil, think of Evanesence. They're very similar, the most drastic distinction being that Lacuna Coil is talented.)

She stated, as was her belief, that the times which we are saddest is when we think the most. I believe the intent was the causality is that you think most because you are sad. However this seems like it assosciates misery with thought, and I find that wholly alien. I can't help but reject it.

When I am the most happy, when I have the biggest euphoria, when I feel most truly alive is when engaged deep in thought. I am invulnerable, impenetrable, and the lord of all I see, for the only things I can see are those which I understand when I enter such a state.

I wonder, if this opinion is pervasive, or if it's a fluke. I am inclined to believe the former, as more and more in the world today, I am under the impression that people do not like to think, to reflect, to introspect. This too is alien. Perhaps it is human nature though. I've known I'm abnormal for the majority of my life.

I can now add another tick to the checklist. I don't regret it.
