So I promised to tell about my kids ... and I am finally going to do just that. Tonight, I'm going to talk about Steve, because after all his band is playing in two more nights (Thursday). So this one is to Steve!

Steve was born in 1982. He was named after Steve Marriot of the Small Faces and James Brown. He was such a good baby!

His father was the guitar player in the Untouchables. Thus, Steve didn't have a tricycle, he had a Vespa. Go figure!

This is my mom, little Stevie, Teddie Ruxpin and me. It was Christmas, 1986. Steve loved Teddie Ruxpin!

This is Steve at 10 ... we are hiking in the Hollywood Hills up by the sign. It just doesn't get any better than this.

Steve played baseball from T-Ball at 6 through Varsity starting pitcher in his senior year.

Steve also played football ... one year of PeeWee and some in High School.

Steve played basketball, tennis and golf. Steve was also involved in drama. He would kill me if I posted a school play picture, so instead I will show you a picture of Steve at 13, with me, and my son, Chuck, age 16. This was his grunge phase.

One evening we were at a party and Steve sat down at a piano and starting playing Fur Elise, with both hands. We had never had an instrument and he had never had lessons. I said, "Steve! That's Beethoven!" and he answered as only a young teenager could, "No duh, mom!" Where exactly he picked it up, I don't know, but I realized he needed to be encouraged in this area. When he was 14, for Christmas, I bought him his first guitar: A Squire Strat. I didn't want to spend too much because I didn't know if it would stick. But it did. His generation is amazing! My big brother used to play guitar in front of the mirror with a vinyl lp on to learn guitar licks. Steve would download tablature and teach himself that way. He learned about computer programs to create/record/mix music. He is so f'n cool, I really love my son and I am so proud of him. I bought him a Les Paul for Christmas about 3 years later because he deserved it.

This was Steve's gang when he filled in for someone or another in Bleeding Kansas when they went to Utah with Horse the Band. Salt Lake City ... Mormons. Wow ... bet those bands went over well there. eeek

Steve is also a real good big brother. Much love!

So anyway, Steve is in a band called Tobias. They are playing on Thursday night at the Knitting Factory and you can see all the pertinent information on my events tab. Daniel (also in Bleeding Kansas), Mike, and Peter are also in the band. I will be there, too, along with all sorts of cute little emo looking girls that are too young for any of you reading this.

Love to you,
~Suzy kiss

P.S. Yay, Lakers!
