Well, day 2 of my training to be a trainer. Trainer, as in teacher. But I can't be a teacher, cause thats a University degree. My qualification allows me to "teach" specific work related subjects. For me, that means, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Business Management, and some Computing.
So, for the last 2 days, Ive been observing, and assisting, a hairdressing class. Yeah, irony. The bald guy goes to hairdressing class.
But, I've had an awesome time. And, if this is what its about, I'm in.
The students so far have made me laugh. All girls, and all different. Cocky, shy, quiet, loud. Theyre all awesome.

Day 3, They still havent broken my spirit. The highschoolers are the tough ones. 16, na they thin they own the world. and that the world owes them. Im sorry hun, but turn 18, and all of a sudden, the world owes you jack. In fact, It'll come collect. Trying to get that message thru is very very hard. Im volunteering for a non profit. To gain some experience. But that means I have students that are government funded, and not necessarily wanting to be there. Ive already done the speech. "I'll get paid, no matter what your outcome. Pass, fail, money in the bank. Its up to you to try. I'll give you my word now, that I'll help. But I wont do the work for you. I dont need to qualify as a hairdresser. I have no hair. Im bald. So, you choose. "

An update. Day 8. (Strap in, its a long post). I got to expel a student. Not the best of feelings, but it really was the only choice. In the 8 days that I've been at the training salon, he has never arrived on time, and its not like 10 mins, its hours. He was send home once, cause he was still drunk from the night before. And yesterday, he shows up stoned. But that wasn't the reason. It started really well. One of the students asked me for some help with some theory. And, she ended up needing to do an assessment that Harry needed as well. She was nice enough to put aside her other work, and let him join us. And it went downhill from there. I don't know how many times I asked him to start working. Then he starts baiting one of the other students, looking for an argument. Again, I asked him to stop. Then, he insulted the student I was working with originally. At which point I lost my shit. I read him the riot act. There were several others in the room, poor Brenda, who wouldnt say boo to a goose, gave me the big eyes, "like wow, you're scary". So, I took Isabella to another room, and left Harry looking daggers at me. 5 minutes later, the others came in, and apparently Harry abused and insulted them as well. And that was that. I went and relayed the story to the trainer I'm working with. Harry, Linda and myself sat down to try and discuss things over. That didn't work. So, we got his Social Worker in, gave the story, then the reasons, and then the bad news. Sometimes, you can't help some people.
