So...never have me housesit...I'm a jinx.
Doorbell rings yesterday about 6pm...and the dude at the door tells me to call 911 because the neighbors house is on fire. Wha?
I go outside and sure enough...the house right next door, seperated by a measly 10 feet is pluming with smoke. I call the fire department and thank goodness they arrive quickly. Soon, there's 7 fire trucks in front of the house and they go to work. There's no one home at the time, so no one is hurt, and the fire stayed trapped in the attic. Of course had it fully engulfed...well...that would have been bad. Regardless, I was running around like an idiot, trying to make sure all the cats were inside and wondering what to save if something even more horrible happened.
So, the firefighters tore the roof off the place...literally, as they had to vent the fire and douse all the smoldering wood. They did one cool thing in that they pulled out all the neighbors photo albums before they started spraying water inside. Still, I'm sure most of the things inside are a total loss, between the water and smoke. The owner gave me a hug for calling 911. It's all pretty strange and sad.
As if that wasn't enough, the kitten Ragnar was in full force. While I was outside freaking out, he ate 3 keys of my laptop. And when I gave him his medicine, he spit it up all over me.
