So, the trip to Austin went well. Both the meeting and greeting of a new creative team, but the drinking afterward. Finally got out to Sixth street and dammit if that isn't the coolest place I've been to in a long while. The area is dotted with cool, eclectic, divey little spots with great food, cheap drinks and nice people. It really did seem possible to go to any random table and strike up a conversation that was based on a real, mutal interest in just shooting the breeze and meeting a new person. I hope the projects we met for want us, because this is a town I could spend some time in and be happy about it.
This in contrast, to LA, where we celebrated the birthday of our favorite casting director at the newly chic Roosevelt Hotel. Not only did the party get moved across the pool so Jake Gyllenhaal and Kirsten Dunst could have a comfy place to canoodle, but by 10pm, the place was awash in stringy, aloof hipsters. Bah.
Anyway, the projects keep getting bigger and more interesting. Now if we could just get paid a few rubles, I could stop abusing the good people at Visa.
