So, Neko Case last night was really incredible. I got there early and jammed my butt up to the front of the stage. The Sadies opened and are a rediculously talented country group out of Toronto. They played for about and hour, then they served as Neko's backing band when she came out.
The petite redhead can belt it out like no other and I was standing at her feet, looking up her nose the whole time and loving every minute of it. They played all but two songs off of her new cd 'The Tigers Have Spoken.' They also played 3 new songs and I was thrilled when she played 'Furnace Room Lullaby' which will give you shivers if you've never heard it.
I met a nice woman named Sharon from Riverside and talked music before the show. She had brought her digital camera, but dropped it on the way to the bathroom and it wasn't reading the memory card. I was able to fix it and she took some cool pics which she'll hopefully send to me that I can post.
After the show I was hanging by the swag table when Neko herself came out to yak with some friends. She had a pen and was signing stuff, so I quickly bought an album. As is my nature, I completely spazzed out and couldn't get the shrink wrap off, by which I become flustered and was positively mangling the album.
Neko: Here, give it to me, you're going to destroy it.
Me: (nervous chuckle) ...yeah...You're great.
Neko: (effortlessly taking the shrink wrap off in two seconds and signing the album) Thanks.
And so ends another brilliant turn as Andrew meets a personal Goddess and makes like a complete fucktard. But what do I care...she was awesome and I have a great memento.
Also, got Betty, my wonderful car back. Of course they didn't replace the bubbled back tire, even though that's one of three things that was visibly wrong with the car when I brought it in. *sigh* So, I had to spend much of Thursday and Friday trying to get that fixed and signed off on. But now...finally...after a month and 3 days I am now the only malfunctioning thing about my car!
