So, been a pretty busy week so far:
--Went to an SGLA Tuesday dinner at the world famous Bob's Big Boy in Toluca Lake. Hung out with a myriad of cool people, most of which are or have been added to my friend's list. Friends are cool...especially when you get to see them eat in person.
--Afterward, went to daveunderthebed's apartment with Troublemaker and drank tequila shots and watched some 'Mr. Show,' and 'Sifl and Ollie' (which had to be the worst, blurry dub ever in the history of the VCR...but it's a show about sock puppets, so it's not like it mattered...though I did complain about it...because I'm surly.)
--We were joined by Roxy and VikpreZ and it was perfectly pleasant time...good people.
--Next day, off to see Sting and Annie Lennox at the Bowl.
--People bailed at the last minute, so I had to grab two other friends, but they were both excited to go. One of them was my friend Rachel, who is also my tattoo artist--(she works at Purple Panther Tattoo on Sunset Blvd. and is wonderful and kind and creative...go see her for all your inking needs!)
--We got in late, as the person with the tickets was stuck in traffic (which is pretty much required...like even in the Bible it says 'thou who hasith thine tickets, shall be proportionally late to the number of people waiting for them outsidith the venue, so sayeth the Lord.)
--We missed Annie's first few songs, but she was incredible. What a dynamic performer.
--Unfortunately it became clear that two couples of inconsiderate, clueless, choad-gobbling drunken yuppie fucktards sitting in front of us were going to TALK to each other the entire show.
What the hell is wrong with people?!? This is why I'm a hermit.
--At one point, Sting broke into a little bit of 'King of Pain' at which point one of the yuppie fucktards pipes up with (I kid you not): "What do you mean there's a little black spot on my pants?" I did the only thing I could do, short of knifing him in the back of the head, and I laughed and laughed loudly saying "Damn, that's funny, funny stuff..." His girlfriend turned around and I laughed again, right in her face, saying how funny her man was and that I hoped he kept riffing all night. I will say he never said anything quite so loudly again, but they didn't stop yakking.
--Anyway, uber-assholes notwithstanding, Sting was pretty good. He overdoes the jazz noodling a bit much and the new CD isn't one of his best. But he did do a lot of cool songs and even did a duet with Annie on "We'll Be Together" which was one of the highlights of the night.
OK...back to work...
