So, Saturday I went to the birthday party for my good friend Roberta's son Ian. He's two. She asked for my help in setting up the party (she's a wonderful single mom) and I was more than happy to help.
Little did I know I would be pretty much the only non-kid carrying person there. It turns out, lots of people have babies and children and here they all were in a small room. And lo and behold, when it came time to cut the cake, I found myself carrying the large kitchen knife...(kind of fitting really.)
Most of the mothers commented that the pieces of cake I was cutting were rather large...but hey...kids like cake...and when they're tear-assing around in a sugar frenzy, I don't have to talk them down.
But it certainly made me think again about kids...and how I don't want any. I'm just not cut out for it...this may make me a bad person, but so be it. I'm too selfish, too neurotic and can barely take care of myself. Still, it's nice to be the cool Uncle every now and then. Last year I got Ian a Godzilla doll and was quite proud to see it next to his car seat this year.
