so, last night i was at this party and i met this girl. she's cute, she's flirty, we're danicin havin a good time then i take her outside to have a cigarette. as we're talking away from the music, for some reason or another, i mention my last name and she freaks out...
"OMG I know your brother! we go to school together!"
ha, thats hilarious. ive worried about that before, but eventually i just found myself being places where younger folks just dont go. always gotta check the IDs hehe
My soon to be roommate told me that I come off as a know-it-all because I correct people.
Is it really rude to correct someone when they are wrong?
I want people to tell me if my facts are skewed. I love learning new things and if my previous knowledge about something is wrong Im glad to be corrected.
Perhaps it's impolite to correct people's... Read More
i think its the context and the way you correct people. most often i let it side if its a non-crucial detail or some arbitrary reference that doesnt 'need' to be corrected. other times it helps to phrase your correction as a question rather to soften the blow or even perhaps get the person to think about the facts and give themself the chance to correct themselves.
you never know -- everyone is different and some people hate to be corrected just for ego reasons. i personally dont mind being corrected if im wrong. but if someone comes off as condescending, its kind of annoying.
I would say its subjective, the tone of voice people use when correcting others is the main thing; I know certain people who without trying just come off as bitchy know it alls, which was the last of their intentions. meh.
Though I would say if most of the things you're correcting are historical, Id say you have room to do so.
im definitely down for being a real life friend, looks like we have some stuff in common. You go to NIU i take it? I live right by the campus...when does school start there?
ha well my best friend lives here and had an extra room. I was ready to get out of my parents house and this was the best option. Believe it or not where i come from is a smaller town with much less stuff then there is here, also there is a lot more diversity here which i really like. Plus its only an hour from Chicago. Problem is my best friend is 31 so he is not about going out and doing things much but i want to do everything so ya know
so... i'm really lame but, it's only hours away not and i'm super excited.
tomorrow me and some peeps are watching harry potter 1-5 before going to the midnight show of the half blood prince and then crashing at my friend's farm.
i did someone a huge favor today/yesterday and she didn't say 'thank you'
am i an ass because that really irks me?
i really didn't expect anything from her except a little appreciation for the fact that i was doing her a favor. i went out of my way calling people and arranging shit for her and then found her a ride.
