So I tried to break up with my b/f last night...

You might think that breaking up should be relatively simple but it most definately is not.

I told him I wanted to remain friends and that he could wait to move out until his money situation improves. I told him I still love him but I need to be single for a while.

I thought we understood eachother. However, this morning before he left for Arizona where he will be for a week, he kissed me and told me he loves me and is still going to fight for me...

The important thing is now he knows what you want. If he's in denial, it's his issue, and not yours for keeping him in the dark. You were strong enough to break up with him, so don't give in. It seems pretty clear to me that you're at a point in your life where you need to be single. A week apart will give him time to think, he might come back being okay with you two breaking up.
