dating a closeted girl is frustrating. even if she's out to everyone except her family.

there's just something completely devastating about being introduced as a "friend" and not being alowed to act in any way like a couple.

especially when she kinda sprung it on me that they don't know. we showed up outside her parents house and she threw it out there, "oh, hey, by the way, they think i'm straight"

later on when we were all chillin in the garage waiting for the food on the grill to be done, one of lo's friends made a comment about my hair, to which i responded "it gets me all the ladies" or something to that effect. lo's step-dad heard this and walked over to where i was standing (he was pretty drunk at this point) and he then asked me "so, what are you a gay or something?" trying to ignore the tone in his question i jokingly responded "well, maybe...a little bit....sometimes...kinda, ya." i could see from fifteen feet away the expression change on lo's face, she was freaking out. she rushed over and swooped me away in time for me to avoid her father's second question "so, when did you decide to be gay?"

lo then pulled me to the side to tell me not to talk about anything gay before sneaking a kiss and dragging me back out amogst the family.

it kinda pisses me off because i kno her step-father is a closed-minded ass and it would ruin shit with her family if they knew because they wouldn't accept it. at the same time tho, it pisses me off to play this stupid game of pretend.

my family is totally accepting of whoever i want to date as long as i'm happy. my girlfriends make my mother terribly uncomfortable and my dad loves to make crude lezbo jokes that he doesn't realize are completely innapropriate. they're embarassing, but they love me and accept me.

i want that for her. almost as much as i want to tell off her douche of a step-dad.

oh, and get this, when we walked back into the garage, her family was discussing gay-marriage. i've never had to bite my tongue so hard in my life.
