The girl and I spent a lovely day together, after a somewhat less lovely day in which my own rumination on turning 30 this year and how it made me feel old somehow got translated into a perceived stab at her. She's two years my senior, and has never thought of herself as old. I certainly don't blame her - we're both pups.

But still - for the first time, I realized this week that I will turn thirty this year. It feels old to me right now.

I hate arguing semantics at three in the morning.

In the morning, we went out for pancakes, then went into the office for a few hours to help our week go a little more smoothly. Then while we tried to decide where to have dinner, we went off driving, winding up two cities away before we knew it.

That's the interesting thing about Southern Ontario - it's sort of like a string of connected towns. You just keep going until you see something interesting.

The catch is that there isn't anything actually interesting until you hit Toronto, but whatchagonnado?

So we did the Sunday drive in the country, looked at property we might like to buy, and talked about the future. We're still in nooooo rush (although I think her biological clock might be ticking a bit... I wonder what the people at the next table over dinner made of her announcement: "I don't need a ring - just the semen." Awwwwww.) but it was fun to talk about.

We had dinner at a remodelled Pizza Hut. It's now a "Pizza Hut Italian Bistro". Well lah-de-dah. Don't get me wrong - the ambience was quite nice.

But... y'know.

For a Pizza Hut.

On the way home, I picked up some new books. "How To Be Good", by Nick Hornby ,"Microserfs" by Coupland, and "Chris Crawford on Interactive Storytelling." I think that one is by Hemingway.

And that was my day. How was your weekend?

Dude, that's hilarious. As is the concept of a Pizza Hut Italian Bistro. I guess we don't have them down here.

What we do have is an all you can eat KFC/Taco Bell. Now that's the good stuff.
