Vacation is going reasonably well. I sold a guitar back to the guy I bought it from, I've enjoyed wonderful meals with my parents, and I've had dogs barking at me and crawling over me and playing fetch since the moment I walked home.
I'm going to get to see just about everybody important who's still up here. The only drag is that I've got this one friend from High School who I came back in touch with in the past six months or so, and she always makes a big production about wanting to get together.
Last time I was in town, there was an email waiting for me when I stepped off the bus saying how she'd be busy for my entire stay. It was the holidays, so family obligations and such. No big deal. This time, she swears up and down that I'm etched in stone for tonight, as far as her schedule goes. So of course, as soon as I log into MSN tonight, her computer has died and her son is sick. Don't get me wrong. It's feasible. (Except that every mutual friend we have has warned me that she does this every time.)
I set up my entire schedule - shuffled everybody - to make sure tonight was clear. Stick to an appointment or don't. I don't like having my time wasted. So no cookie for her.
Every time I step into the mall, I buy two CDs. Here they are, so you can make fun of my taste in music
:
Slipknot - Iowa (finally found it for less than $26!!! Whee!!!)
Spirit of the West - Can't remember the title of this one. It has their essential "Home For A Rest" on it.
Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Jacknife to a Swan. I remain firm in my belief that if you don't like the Bosstones it may be some kind of disorder.
Tegan And Sara - Don't remember the title of this one either. I think it's "If It Was You". I became aware of these girls a couple of years back and was always impressed. Not Ember Swift impressed (who any Ani-heads on the site should definitely check out), but still impressed. And the album was nine bucks. So how wrong can you go?
Lit - Their first one. "A Place in the Sun?", I think... I could never resist that "Miserable" song.
Good Charlotte - Their latest one. I can't resist that "Girls and Boys" song. Or "Boys and Girls". Or whatever the fuck it is.
Hope you all are having a spiffy week and keeping it together without my stabilizing influence.
I'll be heading back to my place (to fix the internet connection that somehow got wanged the night I left, to my gf's constant frustration) in just a couple of days to resume my daily ranting and catch up on your journals.
I'm missing my weekly night of drinking with the lads tonight (and am maybe five hundred feet from the best strip club for a hundred miles but don't have anybody to go with -- dammit!!!), so go out and hoist one for me, please.

I'd be firmer in my committment if I didn't have to trade off a closing shift for later next week on account of my dumb ass not booking an evening off to see a friend's play that I've known about for weeks.
On Monday I'll have everything straight.
