WARNING: THIS ENTRY CONTAINS SCENES OF EXTREME DENTISTRY AND COARSE LANGUAGE. IF THAT SORT OF THING BUGS YOU, STOP READING NOW OR GET ADULT SUPERVISION.

Ow ow ow ow ow.

Dentist appointment this morning. Not fun. I'm in the chair for about forty-five seconds before I've got a needle poking into my gums, and the guy telling me he's going to yank my wisdom tooth out.

He seemed astonished that the tooth hadn't been hurting since being damaged, and when I assured him I'd been in no discomfort up to or since said damage, he promptly whacked it several times with whatever metal instrument was in my mouth at the time.

I don't know what day of dental school this guy missed where they covered things like the differences in pressure on a tooth between, say, eating some tender fried chicken and getting hit in the mouth with a motherfucking metal rod. God damn!!!

Fortunately, after looking at the x-rays, he decided it didn't have to come out and could probably be rebuilt. So that's what got done. Apparantly the extraction would have hurt more but have taken less time. All things considered, I'm in favour of the less pain option.

I also bought a whole pile of movies to help pass the time over my vacation when I'm not busy doing fun stuff like cleaning the apartment and going to the inusrance agent, or going to my next dental appointment in two weeks.

For my viewing pleasure:

American Movie, because I freaking love that movie and think it's hysterical.

Taxi Driver and Brazil, because I've never seen them and probably should.

Heavy Metal and X-Men (or, if you prefer, X-Fucks smile) 1.5, because I'm a huge geek.

Austin Powers 2, because I like having a good boneheaded comedy to throw on every now and again, and I think the only one in my library is The Wedding Singer.

I also picked up an album by Richard Underhill. Canadian hipsters especially may remember Underhill as the main cat from The Shuffle Demons.

And now I'm off to try and enjoy my day, and dread the moment when the anaesthetic wears off.

I command you to tell me what you'd do with a 3-week vacation, assuming that travel was not a heavy component of the itinerary. Got any books, movies, or websites that are good for some time passing? I think I'm gonna kick back, restring all my criminally neglected guitars, and write some noisy rawk music just for kicks.

Oh yes.

And I don't have the laptop or the someone yummy either, but I'm so far behind on my reading list, and I thought this was hypothetical anyway.

teclo:

i like the x-fucks movie. i do i do. i just prefer DC "heroes" (esp vertigo heroes) more. tongue

with a three week vacation, i would do things like finish three of the four books i'm reading. i would take up a new hobby, or work on the one's i'm working on now (knitting and sewing) ... provided the boyfriend also had these three weeks off, we would go out to movies every night, have dinner, and go visit the science museum, art museum, and conservatory.

i would also call and harass my doctor.
