I'm not quite as thrilled as you might suspect for a guy who's on day 1 of a three-week vacation.
Last night was a big party for the company in celebration of the end of a big project. (I've probably said this a lot, but this was really it - the actual 'it's done and over' party, not to be confused with the past three weeks or so of 'it's almost over' parties.) We were at the local watering hole, generously subsidized by the company before we all scattered off to other entertainments.
And I bet you can guess where my friends and I went!!! Unfortunately, the place was packed... so packed, in fact, that a group of guys actually paid a bouncer for our table stageside. We were graciously given the opportunity to counter-bid, but fuck that. I'm not really upset at all about it - there are only so many good tables, and they wanted it more than we did, I suppose. But we went to two clubs and I didn't spend a dime beyond cover charge and a beer at each place. No extra sauciness! No shenanigans! No coming home smelling like a perfume counter. What a fucking waste of a night!!!
Actually, I was waiting for one dancer in particular, but she got snatched up as soon as she got off stage and didn't come out of the back. Now, I'm not saying I've never had the pleasure of keeping her all to myself long enough to put an extra wing on her house, so I can understand that I was taking my chances by waiting. Maybe next time. Some days you get the b'ar, some days the b'ar gets you.
And, after all, it's not like I wasn't coming home to spend valentine's day with a pretty awesome girl.
Although we did celebrate our valentine's day on Tuesday with a nice Thai dinner out after I got my piercings. But still.
So anyways - if my biggest complaint so far is free beer and no strippers, then why the hell am I complaining?
Because I woke up at 8 this morning. Normally, I wake up early - it's karma, i think - when I've been out drinking. But today, it was because of the huge muscle cramp in my right leg. Absolutely unbelievable pain, which fortunately went away after a couple of minutes. After a while longer, I was even able to fall back asleep.
Only to be awoken at around 9 by a huge muscle cramp in my left leg. Oh what fun!
I feel really bad for the gf. Waking up to your significant other screaming in pain can't be a fun way to start the day. Although it's likely more fun than being the person doing the actual screaming.
They've stopped hurting, but I can't actually stand up or walk. I did manage to make it out in a most undignified fashion to my trusty chair in the living room (only to sit down and realize that i had to pee), but I'm not going anywhere in the foreseeable future that I can't roll to. And that, dear friends, is no way to run a holiday.
I suppose this means the gym's out now, too.
Anyways, I'm sure I can keep myself busy. The gf and I have had the DVD for Lost In Translation kicking about that has yet to be watched, and I'm still finishing up The Tick and The Critic. So I'm sure I can keep myself entertained even if I can't actually... y'know... move, or anything. On the topic of what I've been watching, we finished the Firefly box set the other day. That show was so unbelievably good that it physically hurts to think it's just over.
Hey Fox, way to nix one of the greatest shows that will ever grace your airwaves, asshats. It'd sure be a shame not to have enough room for American Idol or My Big Fat Obnoxious Fianc.
So I'm grumpy today. You'd be too, if you couldn't walk.
So tell me - how are you guys spending your weekend, and are you doing anything spiffy for valentine's day?
PS - I added a couple of pics showing off (kinda) the new piercings, for those who were buggin' me about it.
