Ack! TOTAL geek-out today.
Went shopping at lunch and picked up that spiffy new two-volume compendium of The Far Side (doing serious damage to my back in the process, I'm quite sure - this thing is HUGE).
Then picked up a bunch of network stuff for home, so I can get my game consoles online (I know, I know) and throw down with some Tony Hawk with some of my friends.
Then I went out in the evening with my girlfriend, toy shopping in celebration of her awesome new job (better pay, better hours, and in the building right next door to my office), and we brought home the Firefly box set, which is pure, uncut awesomeness, and a second Playstation 2 on which to watch it. Our crappy futon in the living room just ain't made for any combination of chilling or cuddling with a movie on, so we decided to just surrender and put a TV in the bedroom.
And if we're gonna put a tv in there, might as well put a DVD player in there. And if we're gonna get a DVD player, we might as well just get another PS2. Right? Right.
I have no idea why we didn't do that sooner.
We're geeks, but we're geeks in love, so it's all good.
And LaDolceVita - I picked up that No Doubt compilation and it is my professional opinion as an experienced working music guy that there is absolutely no shame in owning it. My only regret is that I didn't spring for the big box set with something like 3 CDs and a DVD. It's magically delicious.
And I also picked up the latest Finger Eleven CD because they just keep rocking harder and harder.
No luck finding the new Twilight Singers release or a nice Talk Talk anthology, but the weekend is young.
Hope you're all recovering from whatever New Year's shenanigans you put yourselves through
And a giddy welcome to all the good folk who've been gracious enough to join my friends list since Christmas. The bar car opens in an hour.
