I have a new hero in life.
A guy I work with has a daughter in her mid 20's. Several years ago, she was diagnosed with lupus. In 2003, doctors said her liver was basically toast, if she didn't get a transplant within 72 hours, she was going to die. In 2005 she was out here on vacation, diving with turtles. The impressive part: she never got the transplant. While the doctors were getting ready to sign her death certificate, her liver suddenly just started working again.

2 weeks ago, he got the call...his daughter was dying, come back to CA within the next couple of days or you'll miss her. That Monday morning, he was on a plane to, as he thought, watch his daughter die. Monday night, her vitals were dropping, doctors were saying she wouldn't make it to morning. Tuesday, everything was starting to improve...by Tuesday night, they were taking her home. No one has any kind of explanation. Her dad just keeps saying "I wouldn't give her permission to die".

I'm willing to bet that she'll be back out here on vacation again in a year. I've never met this girl, but she is tough as nails and is now my hero.
