Music... sweet sweet music...
In case you don't already know, I am completely enamored with music in all its forms. Every day I discover something new. I spend most of my time researching music, discovering more and more. I sit here listening to DJ Shadow's "The Private Press" record, and once again, I am stunned by the brilliance of it. I feel a connection with music that amplifies my own existence.
To go from John Coltrane to Sonic Youth to Beastie Boys to Bjork to Funkadelic to Tortoise to Kronos Quartet to DJ Spooky to Laurie Anderson to Roxy Music is the ultimate kick. It all fits, it all contributes, it is the finest union I know of. Music is a world completely unified in and of itself. The world expels this great force and through it connects the human race to one another. You have hip-hop in Japan, reggae in Germany, funk in Brazil. The list is endless. Everyone enjoys it. Music is truly universal. It is something our politicians should aspire to.
