Hoo-ha! Happy New Year Everyone!
This year's shoutout goes to all of you. This was my first year on SG and it will not be forgotten. I have met so many fine people. You all have helped improve my life. I am grateful.
I better mention some of my favorite albums of the year....

Sheesh. First Mary Hansen and now Joe Strummer.
RIP Joe Strummer. He did a fine job bringing a smooth blend of political awareness with all sorts of accompanying music. The Clash did more for music than most bands could even dream of. This is a real loss.

Happy Christmas to you too, doll.
By the way, the limited edition Chocolate Mint Hershey Kisses are spectacular. Melt them in your regular house coffee. It's to die for. Oh and the chocolate mint candy canes from Hershey aren't bad at all either
Stir them in your hot cocoa and remember I'm thinking about you.

I introduced myself to Astor Piazzolla's "Tango: Zero Hour" tonight and it is absolutely incredible. What a magnificent work. His New Tango Quintet is full of passion and soul. Astor even says, "We gave our souls to this record" and it perfectly comes across in the music. This is some of the best music I have ever laid ears on.

Thank you for the feedback, I always appreciate hearing about my writing from you, you really put some thought into it & it's very helpful and encouraging. I will send you a mix CD, prob after xmas as well...just email me whereabouts to send it. I'll include Interpol minus the song Joss sent you, plus BoC and Plaid and some surprises...
The other day I was thinking about how I'd like to teach a music appreciation class that brought people together and taught them to appreciate other music. I want people who like punk and people who like hip-hop to see that both of those forms of music come from the same concept. They are both commentaries on today's society. They both brew from the same...

I'd be in a cemetery where it's snowing and I'm wearing a beanie and scarf and mittens while drinking hot chocolate and a handsome boy in specs is taking pictures of my fingers tracing the lettering on a gravestone.

Mary Hansen, vocalist for Stereolab, was killed in a bike accident. She was hit by a car while riding her bike and was killed in London. She was 36.
What a terrible event. I have liked Stereolab ever since I heard "Parsec" on that VW Beetle ad. When I bought "Sound-Dust" in the spring, I became absolutely enamored with the band.

Sigh.
That just topped off my whole cruddy week. Terrible.
It's funny, I was a bit peeved at that VW ad when it first appeared ("What? Stereolab is selling out??"). That was before I sold my soul to the man, though...(ie, lightened up.)

And I never realized how much I loved her until we were bound in chains together. When you have a person's weight dragging you deeper down to the ocean floor, you can quickly develop a great understanding and appreciation for someone.
I remember how she twisted and turned, trying to break free from those chains. She spent every ounce of her strength trying to perform...

since I've only seen it once
i don't particularly remember the music but I know i don't like movies with bad soundtracks... it ruins everything
so I know I remember liking it as far as it goes along with the movie well, but it didn't stand out.
K-Pax, now thats a soundtrack that stood out!
I knew i was going to like that movie as soon as the music started.

I hope your finals went well and that you didn't have to study too hard. It's okay though because then maybe I'll have something more interesting to talk about the next time we speak, with all the time passing in between. How is the weather?

{vision of loss on a beach} - idea for a photo

Sounds like a beautiful photo. You describe it very well, I can clearly see it in my mind's eye. I suppose that writing is my "vehicle," to as much enlightenment as I've been able to reach so far...at least it seems to get me tangibly closer to something greater than myself, trying to replay human experience and emotions on the page in a way that sheds new light on some very old things. It's the ultimate challenge...
