I feel a great need to connect to something in a very spiritual manner. Not necessarily of a religious nature (although the more I learn about Bhuddism, the more it fascinates me). I feel like I trigger my spiritual sense when I listen to music and feel a connection with all the other art forms. But maybe I need to make that a habit a...

pet sounds is the greatest album! i really like sheryl lee. she also plays helga/resi in "mother night" the film based off vonnegutt's book...she picks the coolest shit! and she just has this mysterious air about her..i dunno..she rocks pretty hard..

Questionable Negatives

Exposures split apart on the ground.
Dusty and disregarded.
Keta, she knew the score.
Draped and rugged clothing in knots.
Forgotten mysteries and questions.
Playing with the static.
A dance on the scratch.

Passing over the sign.
Loose boys drift to her name.
Cast away teachers and lust and shame.
The curing ether left aground.
Ignoring the solution.
Drowning in the emptiness.
Howabout...

roy orbison is actually one of the few artists whose music makes me cry. "crying", does it every time... that high note he hits? chills. weeping.
my dad met him several times, and said the man was possibly the sweetest, most polite person he'd ever encountered.

I am constantly reminded of my favorite scene in American Beauty. The scene where Ricky is showing Jane his video tape of the bag dancing in the wind. How the music comes together with the visual imagery there is incredible. And then Ricky gets all chocked up explaining to Jane how sometimes there is so much beauty in the world, he just can't take it......

i felt the same way a few years ago when i lived in CA with my mom. after i moved back to OK, all i could think of was being in CA, even though i wasn't truly happy there. i think we all have a bit of a selective memory. i know i do especially.. i tend to romanticize everything. after i was back for a while i decided i wanted to move to new york. i visited new york and i had a good time but not an amazing time..then i went back home and all i wanted to do was go back..now i am going to portland and i miss my friends in OK and i keep having memories of the lake and the wilderness park and my old house, but the whole thing is..that was last years memories..and i am never going to have that part of my life back again. i forgot about all the things that bug me and keep thinking things are the way they were when they wont ever be that way again. as of now i am still in new mexico and dreaming of being back in CA where i will be soon. i am craving the ocean, badly! where are you now? sorry about the novel...

School starts up again tommarow. Ah well. We will see what I learn this semester. Taking some interesting courses except for this one math course which will bite the big one since I am useless when it comes to math. Damn academic requirements.

I have established a domain for Splinters & Candy http://www.splintersandcandy.com This will be the spot where I put up all of my...

Come on, stimulate my mind.
Do it, hit me hard with it.
I want to feel your knowledge,
as it passes up my spine
and tickles my brain.
I want the sensation of being shocked,
of being impressed,
of feeling your thoughts and emotions.
I want to know you.
I want to grow with you
and move into a greater state of
intelligence.
Come on,...

the armed forces network is a bazillion times worse than cnn... but i guess cnn is more insidioudly evil, because with afn you expect propoganda. i don't get cnn over here because i don't have cable. the only english channel i get is afn. and boy, it's non-stop military wackiness and bad sitcoms. actually on the news the other night, they reported that north korea is looking to start a "holy war" against the US.
um, holy war? which country are we talking about here? uh, as far as i know n korea is STILL communist, and religion remains abolished.
i think your twin resides in florida, last time i heard.

laptop dj. basically, i just bought a few programs and downloaded a couple of sharewares. i loaded and continue to load lots of mp3's on my laptop. it saves space and time and ease of transport (yeah, i am fully aware of diminished sound quality). i use Traktor by Native Instruments for the "two turntable" thing. it is pretty easy to use and you can set up stuff to play your own loops or drones or soundscapes.

for lots of the live improve stuff that i mix in with the work of others i use Audiomulch available at www.audiomulch.com. it is a shareware program, but it is available as a download. the program "demo" is a full version, but expires every three months. so basically, it is free and you just have to get it every three months. i feel guilty cos the registration is only $50, but i am a poor soul. i will do it one day.

Audiomulch is a program that allows you to build your own wav players, lop players, tone generators and then run them in real time, applying effects etc. it's really fab and fun for lots of purposes. i find it very expressive in a live setting.

for stuff i write in a studio i use all sorts of crap. i was on a Reaktor kick for the last six months, but i'm slowly getting back to using sampled sounds rather than ones i create in a computer as source materials. blah blah. i could go on forever. i do have an mp3.com page, but it is not my best work. lots of it is really eraly stuff and things i did for film scores. search the band "geli raubal". all my latest stuff i have and if you have a big account somewhere i coudl email you some mp3s.

yeah

sock me good

Sometimes ideas, like men, jump up and say 'hello'. They introduce themselves, these ideas, with words. Are they words? These ideas speak so strangely. All that we see in this world is based on someone's ideas. Some ideas are destructive, some are constructive. Some ideas can arrive in the form of a dream. I can say it again: some ideas arrive in the form of...

Had a great band practice with our new drummer. We recorded most of the session and we are mighty impressed with the improvs.

Can't stop listening to the magic of Julee Cruise. She has a way of captivating that is unlike anything else. You can't help but be ensnared by her beautiful voice.

Ask me something...

I remembered my dream last night. I so rarely remember them, so this was a bit of a surprise.

I dreamt I was part of the stage crew for some performance going on. I think it was a play or something. Anyway, I remember sitting around in this stingy hotel room in an area that resembled London. It was dark and misty outside. And when...

oh wait, no I saw that on Sex in the City..

I dreamed I started an underground boxing club and a psuedo religous sect...

I dreamed I exist everyday in this stinkball called earth and that I am not ....................

hey wait, there must not be an important difference between the dream and the dream.

I just thought you should know I am feeling sooooooooo drugged right now. Because I am. ketoprofen is my saviour. Without it I would be lying in the fetal position on the floor about now, wishing I were dead.

Ohhhh I love this time of the month.

PS Fuck hawaii. miao!! Not that there's anything wrong with it, but I have no intention of vacationing or living there. Everyone wants to be in Hawaii. I do not.

Please help support the West Memphis Three. While this isn't new news, it deserves all the attention it can get. This is a true legal atrocity.

And while you're at it, help out Leonard Peltier and Mumia Abu-Jamal too.

I feel so out of the loop. I actually haven't heard of lint sculptures. frown Should I be collecting my dryer lint and cashing it in somewhere like one would do with aluminum cans? Hook me up, I need the $! I am having some serious CD burner issues right now...I'm not sure when I'm going to be able to get your cd out...I'm going to try to use a friend's soon, so hopefully that'll work out, but my apologies for the delay...

I love how Peter Gabriel and David Byrne have done so much for getting world music into this country. Both Real World and Luaka Bop have helped people see that music that isn't from this country can still be good and full of life. I have been listening to music from all over the world today. It is so refreshing to see such brilliance from...

Music... sweet sweet music...

In case you don't already know, I am completely enamored with music in all its forms. Every day I discover something new. I spend most of my time researching music, discovering more and more. I sit here listening to DJ Shadow's "The Private Press" record, and once again, I am stunned by the brilliance of it. I feel a connection with...
