I really, really love my job. And that's true 90% of the time. (Grading is the other 10%. Not only is it tedious at times, but I loathe the very idea of trying to measure and rank people on their supposed intellectual development. Sick.) And, apparently, I'm good at my job. I got called a "good teacher." Granted, it's only the second week and they'll probably all hate me soon, but it still feels nice.

For the first time in my life, I feel like I'm where I should be and doing what I should be doing. And that is so fucking rare; not just for me, but for many people, I think. I am a lucky bitch.

So, please understand why I don't want to change my life to accomodate you. No, I will not move to your city. No, I will not marry you. No, I will not follow you. No, I will not come home. No, I will not try to graduate early. No, I will not consider another career path, at least not right now. No, if given an ultimatum, I will not choose you. If you truly love me, don't begrudge me the one thing that gives me a sense of purpose and belonging.

Cool. Now I can just come back here to cut, paste, and send next time I need to break up with someone or tell my family to back off. What a time saver!
