The act of doing has always favored me also over book learning!

Skipping "book learning" is a bit like skipping sleep. You may be more productive in the short term, but you just wind up confused and pretty much useless. And while I'm at it, the only reason that humanity as a species has come as far as it has is because of the transfer of knowledge that the printed word makes possible. That legitimately makes studying the greatest thing you can do as a human.
