'One day it just snowed, I guess
And they closed the roads to your heart'

- Townes Van Zandt, 'High, Low and Inbetween' (as covered by Neil Halstead)

********************************************************************

In John Sayles's long, absorbing and, as ever, beautifully balanced Silver City, the best thing of all is Daryl Hannah's cameo role as a stoned, washed up, trust-fund bunny still trying to live down a teenage pregnancy and a failed figure-skating career. After the adorably unhinged Elle Driver in Kill Bill Vol 2, this is Hannah's second note-perfect creation of the decade and I, for one, am enjoying the renaissance of her career.

********************************************************************

I need a new front bumper (do you people say fender?) for my car which, at the rate I'm going, is not going to see out the summer.

*********************************************************************

I am fucked off and have been all weekend. The only time I wasn't fucked off was when I was drunk last night. And when Daryl was onscreen. And what the hell does that tell ya?

mad ARRR!!! skull robot mad

Well maybe it never works because you are expecting it to work.

Oh no, I'm sure the post didn't get the money, but I've lost it by their fault, that's what I meant. Anyway, I know it's a shitty job, but if you do it, do it well (you can try to fuck up your boss, but why do you need to fuck the customers that pay you?) .

I look like an 80 years old woman at work. I hate that job. I should probably become a postman smile
